The third annual Reynolda Film Festival on March 24 – 27 will feature film screenings, a world premiere, a film competition, and talks by film-industry insiders, including award-winning filmmaker Spike Lee.

About 80 undergraduates are taking part in an “alternative” spring break this week, volunteering at a dental clinic in El Salvador, working with Habitat for Humanity in Florida, Tenn. and S.C., and tutoring children in Atlanta. Law students volunteer over break.

More than a dozen Wake Forest law students are spending their spring break this week in Miami helping Haitians dislocated by January’s earthquake obtain temporary legal status and U.S. work permits.

WAKE TV, the student-run campus television station, has filmed nine sports segments for ESPN-U, which have aired during basketball games this season and on ESPNU.com. Watch a clip on the men’s soccer team on ESPNU.com.

The 8.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Chile on Feb. 27 was many times more powerful than the one that struck Haiti two months ago, but Professor Peter Siavelis says Chile’s strong government will help the country recover quickly.

Wake Forest is starting a new summer program for high school students to introduce them to college-level, interdisciplinary learning. The priority deadline for the program is March 5.

Parents were recently mailed a tuition deposit notice. A $500 non-refundable tuition deposit is required of all undergraduate students who plan to enroll for the Fall 2010 semester; the deposit will be applied towards the student’s Fall 2010 tuition charges. Since it opened last year, the StArt Gallery in Reynolda Village has become a center for students to showcase — and perhaps even sell — their paintings, prints, sculpture and photography.
